IPI offers affiliated programs in Metro Washington; Panama City, Panama and Salt Lake City, Utah. Affiliated programs reflect a partnership between IPI’s national program and its affiliated sites. CE credits for affiliated programs are typically awarded through IPI’s national offices, and affiliated programs are either codeveloped or reviewed by IPI.

Many IPI faculty members independently teach their own courses and offer supervision in a variety of locations and by telephone. In some instances, these programs are cosponsored by IPI, although most programs are independent, and are not necessarily endorsed by IPI.

Local offerings may be in the form of study groups, seminars, didactic courses, presentations, etc. They focus on such topics as Basic Concepts of Object Relations Theory and Practice as applied to individual, family, couple and group therapy; the contributions of Bion, Bowlby, Fairbairn, Klein, Winnicott, as well as more recent contributions of Bollas, Fonagy, Joseph, McDougall, Ogden, Scharff and Scharff, Schore, and others; infant observation; psychoanalysis and film; and many others. Programs involve a combination of lectures, readings, video, clinical case presentation and integrative small group discussion.
