IPI Panama's Teen Screen Program
For several years, IPI Panama has been administering the Teen Screen program, designed to help adolescents from the risks of depression and suicide. The program, developed by Columbia University, focuses on prevention and early detection of adolescents at varying situations of risk. In Panama, IPI faculty and members have worked with public and private schools throughout the country to identify teens who would benefit from intervention. Once the teens have been identified, they are linked to a brief psychotherapy program to help work through their problems and offer hope for a better life.
Because the Teen Screen program has been so successful in Panama, IPI is now in the process of implementing the program in the Washington DC area, through the IPI Affiliate, IPI Metro.
