The two-year program consists of two week-long summer institutes, two weekend conferences annually (including two early morning Saturday and Sunday one hour case discussions on child, couple and family assessment and treatment), a weekly 90 minute course by telephone or videoconference, and weekly supervision in each of the two years. It is recommended, but not required that participants also take the course in Infant Observation.
Institutes
This year, the Couple, Child and Family Therapy Summer Institute will be held in Salt Lake City, UT. Participants may enroll in the Summer Institute as part of the Couple, Child and Family Therapy certificate program, or as a stand-alone training for a varying number of CE credits.

Treating Couples and Families in Transition
The birth of a child, the death of a parent, divorce and remarriage, and adolescents leaving home are common life events that dramatically impact the internal structure and functioning of individuals, couples, and families. As clinicians, we struggle to understand the interplay between these life events and existing individual vulnerabilities, generational pulls, unconscious defenses, and our own countertransference responses in the populations we treat. Grounded in object relations theory and explored through clinical case vignettes, we will offer a variety of presentations for clinicians working with children, adolescents, couples, and families. Participants may select presentations focused on their population of interest or join us for an entire week of engaging clinical discussion. Although not required, we will provide opportunities for case consultations for interested participants. Presenters will include Carl Bagnini, LCSW, BCD, Douglas Dennett, MD, Sharon Dennett, MSW, Jim Poulton, Ph.D., Jill Scharff, MD, David Scharff, MD, Janine Wanlass, Ph.D. and other invited guests.
