Master Speaker Videoconference Series
David E. Scharff, M.D., Chair
This year's Master Speaker videoconference series, using the latest videoconference technology, connects groups in Chevy Chase, Salt Lake City, Long Island and Omaha in real time. The present lays out the ideas for discussion and the groups interact across the Internat Protocol to engage in a lively discussion chaired by David Scharff. Using new bridging equipment provided by our partner Westminster College in Salt Lake City, the series can now be extended beyond the original sites to individuals and groups connecting via their own computer or telephone.
If you or your group is interested in joining, please contact annainnes@theipi.org or davidscharff@theipi.org to discuss costs and arrangements.
The videoconference seminars are each two hours, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Eastern Time. Speakers will present on a selected topic, with group discussion across the four sites, facilitated by IPI faculty at each site. Readings are made available prior to each seminar. An optional continuing monthly case seminar meets following the videoconference in each site.

Infant Observation Seminar
IPI offers an infant observation seminar led by Christine Norman, MSW. This seminar links participants across the U.S. Seminar meets by telephone 2-3 times per month. In the tradition of Esther Bick of the British Psychoanalytical Society, the goal is to learn how personality forms in the natural setting of the ordinary family The task for the seminar participant is to observe a baby in its home surroundings without influencing the course of events. Participants present their observations, discuss colleagues’ observations, and process their reactions so as to develop hypotheses about developmental processes and to improve their capacities for observation. Please contact us for more information about joining the infant observation group.
Â
IPI will be glad to offer seminars by video link or teleconference to groups at other sites by arrangement. To inquire, contact us at IPI.
