Thank you for your interest in the International Psychotherapy Institute (IPI). The members and faculty of IPI are grateful for the support of all of our friends in the community.

Now in its 14th year, IPI is fulfilling its mission as THE institution for training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, using object relations integrated with other contemporary approaches. Our balanced perspective and emphasis on helping people towards healthy relationships is more important than ever. We’re taking care of IPI in these days of economic hardship, maintaining a balanced budget and reviewing our Strategic Plan, but we need your help need to take care of IPI so it will survive and thrive.

At IPI we work hard to raise the level of clinical expertise in psychotherapy to improve mental health across the country and around the world. Professional travel and videoconference technology enables us to appeal to a diverse audience. Faculty members and Fellows presented IPI ideas at conferences, hospitals, universities, and psychotherapy establishments in Buenos Aires, Barcelona, London, Panama, Moscow, and St. Petersburg, and some of their books have been translated into Russian and Chinese.

The IPI chapters in Panama and Salt Lake go from strength to strength. In Washington DC, we have an arrangement with Howard University Psychiatry Department to place psychiatric residents in IPI-Metro psychotherapy training courses and offer free workshops for Masters level students. We had our most successful Child, Family, and Couples Institute, held this year in Salt Lake City.

IPI’s Object Relations Theory and Practice Program remains our flagship program, attracting students from as far away as Alaska, Panama, Hong Kong, and Slovenia. Our training program in psychoanalysis was recently awarded full accreditation for 5 years from the Accreditation Council for Psychoanalytic Education.

Equally important to us is the credit IPI receives from those who study with us. Here’s what two of our students wrote about IPI:
