Donate to IPI

Thank you for your interest in the International Psychotherapy Institute (IPI). The members and faculty of IPI are grateful for the support of all of our friends in the community.

IPI is now in its 13th year and has gone from strength to strength. As the preeminent learning community for psychotherapists, IPI ensures that patients still get good treatment despite society’s emphasis on psychopharmacology and brief treatment. Participants return not only to Washington to study together year after year, but also travel worldwide to reap the benefits of training and collegial relationships. Feedback from participants is really encouraging. Here are some participants' replies to a recent IPI survey.

IPI is:
a pivotal influence over my life and work. My practice has been both enlivened and enlightened

IPI has:
accelerated my work, deepened my understanding, and manifested improved clinical outcomes for patients
increased my ability to connect and work with patients — truly being with them rather than teaching them

At IPI:
I feel very strengthened by sharing with colleagues in Panama, US, and the world
I continue to discover more about what the process is and how it works—fascinating and amazing

IPI needs your help to secure our place as a thriving teaching institution and a haven for committed psychotherapists. We want to provide the best possible value to better serve the IPI learning community. We are committed to acquiring and retaining the best administrators, teachers, practice supervisors – while also attracting gifted students.

With your contribution of $100 or more we will be better able to serve your needs - and the needs of the therapeutic community - through expanding our programs and enhancing our communication to let everyone across the country know about them. Please give generously. Your contribution will make all the difference.

Please donate generously now. You can donate using a credit card or your PayPal account.

In the past several years, IPI's programs have expanded exponentially:

  • The membership program has offered participants a way to stay connected at their chosen level of interest and get access to resources and individual mentoring.

  • Washington Metro IPI has made an informal link with Howard University to teach a course in psychotherapy to the Howard University residents, and has created a psychotherapy clinic to serve the metro area.

  • IPI Panama has an outstanding record of community service through the Operation Smile, TeenScreen, and the Association for Unwed Teenage Mothers programs.

  • IPI Salt Lake has affiliated with Westminster College to offer a Masters in Counseling, and to help IPI develop its distance learning program and take IPI to a whole new audience.

  • The IPI distance learning program using Skype and videoconference technology already reaches students in Long Island, Omaha, Salt Lake City, and Panama City, and to several other locations by phone.

  • In the past year, IPI’s Co-directors and faculty have presented at hospitals, universities, and psychotherapy establishments in Israel, Hungary, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and China. (For more on IPI and China see blog at http://www.tuningthetherapeuticinstrument.com.).

  • IPI conference weekends are without parallel in presenting cutting edge ideas from the most influential thinkers in psychoanalysis, couple and family therapy.

With supporters' commitment to IPI in time, interest, and financial contribution, IPI has been able to maintain its array of programs and feature preeminent psychoanalytic theorists and clinicians of international stature. Without our supporters' commitment to excellence as mental health professionals, IPI could not sustain its leadership position as the finest training institution in Object Relations theory and practice in the United States.

IPI's goal is to continue teaching, invigorating, and supporting therapists' work in the community and with their patients. We are committed to ensuring the excellence in programs accomplished to date. Not only are we committed to examine, consult, teach, learn together, and embrace the latest Object Relations theories and related ideas, we want to develop short courses and 1-day conferences at the introductory level to reach out to all who are caught in the short-term view of symptoms and who do not yet know the richness of understanding that comes from a deeper psychoanalytic approach. We want to be able to reach out to communities and professionals who might not have the chance to study with people we value, such as Otto Kernberg, Christopher Bollas, Rosine Perelberg, Allan Schore, and Antonino Ferro.

Please donate to IPI now.

Thank you for all you do to keep IPI thriving. We hope that with your contribution this year we will mark our place in history. We thank you for your support and we are extremely grateful for all that you contribute.
