Strategic Planning
The Strategic Planning Committee’s task is to develop the future strategic plan for the Institute, in consultation with the Board of Directors, the Faculty Executive Committee, the Codirectors, and the IPI community as a whole. Additionally, the SPC monitors progress on the plan, updates it, and assists IPI in working toward an intentional, coherent future.

The purpose of the Chapters and Affiliates Committee is to offer support for the creation and development of new IPI chapters, affiliates and individual teaching relationships, and to offer counseling on issues such as curriculum development, organizing educational activities, and student support.
The main tasks the committee intends to perform, or has performed, include: A survey of the extent of community services offer by the membership; Supporting and facilitating the initiation of the Washington IPIMetro program; Counseling interested individuals for the development of their interest in developing new IPI-affiliated programs.

The purpose of the membership committee is to foster enrollment, review applications for membership, and facilitate members’ participation in the membership program.

Mentoring
The Mentoring program represents the Institute’s interest in furthering the professional and personal development of each full member of the Institute. A mentor is assigned to each full member who is interested with the aim of assisting that member in their growth through IPI. The Mentor relationship provides a partnership based on the member’s needs, desires and aspirations. This relationship focuses on imagining possibilities, promoting growth, and clarifying and focusing on goals with the aim of encouraging movement toward fulfilling the member’s professional and personal potential. The Mentor will assist in making links with others who may be helpful in attaining goals.

Welcoming
The Welcoming Committee is a sub-committee of the Mentoring Committee. It is responsible for welcoming new and occasional students into the Institute, and for answering any questions or concerns before, during or after their participation. The Research Committee conducts program evaluation research of IPI’s central programs; creates summaries of that research for distribution and publication; consults with IPI members on research issues; and encourages members to become actively involved in, and to publish, research that contributes to the current literature.

David E. Scharff
Codirector of The International Psychotherapy Institute; Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences; teaching analyst at the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute; and former president, American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. Author/editor of 15 books, including Object Relations Couple Therapy, Object Relations Family Therapy, The Sexual Relationship, The Freud Century, and Refunding The Object And Reclaiming The Self.

Codirector of The International Psychotherapy Institute; Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Georgetown University; Teaching analyst, Washington Psychoanalytic Institute. Private practice in couple and family therapy and psychoanalysis with children and adults, in Chevy Chase Maryland. Author and editor of books written with David Scharff, International Psychotherapy Institute faculty and students, including Object Relations Family Therapy (1987), Object Relations Couple Therapy (1981), A Primer of Object Relations Therapy (1992), Object Relations Therapy of Physical and Sexual Trauma (1994), Object Relations Individual Therapy (1998), Tuning the Therapeutic Instrument (2000), and Self-Hatred in Psychoanalysis; Detoxifying the Persecutory Object (2002).

Senior Clinical Solution Specialist with IBM Life Sciences in Medical Imaging; internist and specialist in nuclear medicine. Pioneer in the field of telemedicine; consultant to the Federal Joint Working Group on Telemedicine; member of the Board of the American Telemedicine Association; and Chairman of the ATA’s Committee on Telehealth Standards and Guidelines.

Christopher T. Hill, Treasurer
Professor of Public Policy and Technology and former Vice Provost for Research at George Mason University where he has dealt with grant applications, fund-raising, and budget management. While on sabbatical during AY 2005-6 he was a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. He is the author of books on technology and the economy. He has served as treasurer in a number of volunteer organizations.

Hugh F. Hill, III
Director, Fast Track, Emergency Department, Johns Hopkins Bayview, and he teaches and practices emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins. Hugh's publications are in risk management and malpractice. He is a community volunteer and President, Board of Directors of Mobile Medical Care, a volunteer at a monthly indigent clinic, and he has had experience with the Richmond VA Hotline as a crisis intervention counselor. He is also a lawyer, maintaining a part-time consultative practice involving health law issues such as personal injury, contract, and employment. He enjoys performing and directing in community theater.

Sheri Rosenfeld
Associate in private practice. Since 2004 Sheri has been associated with IPI-Metro as a student, and she is now completing her first year in the 2-year program in Object Relations Theory and Practice. Sheri comes with extensive experience in fund-raising. She is currently a trustee of the Levine School of Music, where she has been Gala Chair (2001, 2002, and 2003); past Gala Chair of The Washington Ballet; and volunteer in fund-raising for the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, all of them in Washington DC. She serves on the IPI Development committee.
